Attorney ID Cards

The Sussex County Sheriff’s Office has implemented an attorney identification card program designed to expedite attorney access into the Sussex County Courthouse. The ID card, available to attorneys with offices in Sussex County, costs $25.00 and the card is renewable every five years.

To obtain an ID card in Sussex County, please visit our Bureau of Law Enforcement located at 39 High Street Newton NJ 07860. At this office, you will be asked to complete our Identification Card Information Form (including providing your New Jersey Bar Number). For your convenience, we have also made the form available online so it can be completed in advance of your visit. To view it, you will need the freely available Adobe Reader software installed on your computer.

This is a “fill-able form” and may be filled out on your computer. Please note that a fill-able form isn’t the same as electronic filing and it is not possible to electronically submit a form—you must print it out after entering the information. Complete instructions are provided on the first page of the application.

Payment of the $25.00 fee may be made by cash or check. If paying by check, please make your check payable to the “Sussex County Sheriff's Office.”

Please note that unless the new card is purchased, expedited access to courthouse will not be available. Expedited access and entrance with your new ID card will be available by bypassing the public on line at the entrance of the Superior Court Complex.
